This year marked my first Edinburgh Fringe visit, and although it was both overwhelming and fairly expensive (I seriously did not get the hang of all the free stuff, next year I’ll work on it) I thoroughly enjoyed it! I mainly went up to see my friends and theatre company perform (big up Minotaur Theatre, the student company at UEA drama) but I got to see some amazing pieces- and some pretty awful things too! As the fringe is now coming to an end (and Educating Essex loads on 4OD- I’m extremely bored,) I thought I’d share with you my personal favourite piece of theatre that I saw.
'The boy who kicked pigs' by Kill the Beast (http://killthebeast.moonfruit.co.uk/) is a superb dark comedy, based on the Tom Baker novel ‘The boy who kicked pigs.’ The acting was absolutely incredible, and the composition and piece in itself was spectacularly dark and entertaining. From the first scene to the completely unexpected ending, I was ethralled. It was completely inspiring, and if they ever need an extra blonde actress, I will be the first in line to audition for this company! Massive props, Kill the Beast for your first ever edinburgh piece!
